Te Puni Kōkiri Te Ture Whenua Māori Act Review campaign

Te Puni Kōkiri - Te Ture Whenua Māori Act Review Campaign

Driving participation in public consultation processes and reaching audiences quickly

Objective: To promote a series of 16 regional public consultation hui to discuss changes to the Act. Encourage attendance and feedback.

  • Short time frame, radio able to turn around very quickly.
  • Very regionally specific placement (eg: Tokomaru Bay, Te Kuiti), Māori Radio able to reach each area.
  • Cost effective campaign as only the relevant areas were targeted.
  • Station specific content for each hui rather than generic website or phone  number.
  • The majority of people attending hui had heard about it from their local Māori radio station. Consultation and feedback helped to re-work the proposed changes to the Act.
